Live-Directed Multicam
This is the best way I know how to shoot music - directing it live. Four of my favourite camera operators shooting handheld, and me backstage (or back at my studio) with a pair of video screens and a headset, talking continuously whilst editing live, leaving no room at all for thinking.

Studio Multicam
A live set under controlled conditions allows for a more creative approach. We shot this with Vanishing Twin during lockdown, using iPhones on selfie sticks.
Or as in recording studio. I’ve found the best approach is for the artist to leave cameras rolling whilst they’re tracking, then send me the files for editing and vibe. Like this -

One-man Multicam
Many shows I’ve clipped a couple of action cams onto mic stands, to cut with my own long-lens handheld footage from the side of stage. Like this first time I shot The Comet Is Coming, where you can totally see me lurking behind Shabaka with my beloved HPX170.
Or if I happen to be in the band, I can make do with three locked-off action cams, a bit of phone footage from someone in the audience, and a willingness to push them pretty hard in post.
