Snoop Dogg

OK so this wasn’t for Snoop as such. I don’t know if he ever even saw it.

My dad, you see, was in a pop band before I was born, whose cult following persists to this day, and seems to include some of today’s key pop-cultural figures.

He likes to get these luminaries of stage and screen - the Primus and Phish guys, the Foo Fighters guys, the South Park guys etc etc - round to jam, and he records everything with however many cameras and microphones, and has a lot of fun editing their epic jam sessions down to odd little pop abstractions.

Anyway - he asked me to do something interesting with his footage from the time Snoop Lion showed up, and I ended up going in on it pretty hard, as I’m sure you would have.

Very few people ever saw this, but one of the people who did asked me to edit a thing for Samsung that’s probably one of my proudest achievements in terms of the kinds of rhythmadelic micromaximalism that’s explored much more authentically and self-indulgently in this Snoop video I whittled over maybe three weeks in 2013.
