Since I was a teenager, devising and editing music videos has been my preferred way to socialise with the people who light me up the most. I’m definitely an editor who directs, rather than the other way round. Artists don’t come to me for ideas - my clients tend to have plenty of ideas. What I’m good at is editing, and this often begins with curating and combining and optimising the artist’s ideas. Then I help put a team together to get the footage for me to edit.

Generally I’ve worked in partnerships with artists over many years. My key comrades over the last decade have been Alabaster dePlume, GoGo Penguin, The Comet Is Coming and its three members’ other projects, the various incarnations of Shabaka Hutchings, and Super Best Friends Club.

I’ve also made videos with Primus, Beth Orton, Alewya, Peluché, Erin K, Eska, BigYouth, Luciano and Loose Meat. In almost every case, my job was to develop (ie. edit) the artist’s ideas, rather than pitch them my own.
